We loved being able to spend the New Year weekend with our team-mates William and Charisa Haase up in Tigoni (45mins into the hills outside of Nairobi). Charisa's parents have built a beautiful home up there and Charisa has her mum's knack of making things look stunning - just look at this table...
..and this one! I think this meal went straight to Justin's Number 1 spot!
It was such a blessing to be able to enjoy peace and beauty after the noise and dirt of Nairobi. Wonderful to build friendship with some special people too.
This is tea growing and William showing Caleb which bits to pick
Tea apparently overtook tourism as Kenya's main earner last year
Caleb saw this as an unmissable opportunity to ZOOM!
William also couldn't miss this opportunity, although he later regretted it as the hairs from the grass made him itchy all the way home
Just across the tea fields look what we found... This is where Deborah's Mum and Aunty Helen went to school!
School was out so the guards were very happy to show us around.
Up the drive...
... some of the older boarding houses
.. What we imagine used to be the main entrance (now a boarding house)
The school is now entirely Kenyan-run and takes over 1000 boarders.
Two of the little kids who live on the tea plantation with their families.
A lovely sight on New Year's Day - a small crowd gathered for a baptism
