December - Christmas, Birthday and Boxing Day

This was in front of one of Nairobi's smarter Christmas trees - it was not ours!

Ours was a more modest affair - but very 'on-trend' with the owl/angel (he actually only arrived with the Christmas presents - we'd had no luck finding a star or an angel and hadn't got round to making one!)

Our visiting family members had made sure presents had arrived on time - normally they trickle in over the following few months!

 Savouring the stockings...

An African apron for Eileen and tractor for Robin (he has a soft spot for tractors)

 All for me?!

Cool blue - a football (from Beth), sports top (from Manna and Daddad) and watch (from Mum & Dad)

Beth loved her owl and snowman from GG & GG

Justin cooked us a lovely Christmas turkey dinner

Our poinsettia Christmas cake - they are not pot-plant Christmas gifts here - they are trees!

Our 6-year-old with her new penguin necklace (thank you Auntie Fiona) and beads in her hair (her own styling).

And a special birthday tea.  She's opting for the 'and-a-half' birthday party again this year.

To celebrate Boxing Day (in a country where going for a walk is not very straightforward), our friends had the brilliant idea of a BBQ breakfast in the National Park.  It looks and sounded idyllic but the downpour of rain during the night made getting there slightly tricky (even the 4WD got stuck and getting out of the car to push is not the best plan when you're in lion country!).  However, we all eventually made it and it was a stunning location.

Thanks to Anne Ashvie and Katie Machell for this inspired idea!

Tim, Matthew, Ethan, Jack and Jamie cook marshmallows

Proof that we were in lion country (although those pushing the car had come face-to-face with that proof earlier!)
Katie, Ethan, Anne, Matthew, Caleb, Bethanie and Deborah.

And Grandpa enjoys a relaxing afternoon by the pool.  It's a hard life!
