June 2013 - School fun

June has been a busy month at Braeburn where Caleb goes to school.  We weren't able to be at the Rugby Festival but Caleb survived unscathed and had some good games.  Then it was a weekend of baking and making ready for the school Fun Day and Year 3&4's theatrical performance.
4K's cake stall was very popular

Matthew and Caleb manned the stall for the final half hour and managed to sell every last cake.

Caleb getting Bethanie ready for September when she will start too.  She's already excited!

Do you prefer Caleb the Chameleon...

Or Caleb the Rat?

Every class acted a scene or two; there were some lovely songs and some AMAZING drummers

The scene is set for the telling of a traditional African tale.  A hare, Nagwaja, dreams he will be king but the other animals are not convinced.  He tries all the strong-armed and cunning ways he can think of to make it happen but fails.  However, through love, he unexpectedly succeeds.

Caleb's friend Lucas plays Nagwaja

I see a chameleon behind that bush!

A wonderful Lion King

Can you spot Caleb the Rat?  (he lost his nose!)

We have been doing a few other things in June too...
Bethanie with her friends from our compound:  Nermeen (Pakistani), Fatima (British but visiting Kenyan family for the holidays) and Meron (Ethiopian/Dutch).

Eating Ethiopian with Stephen and Ginny who were on the Water Project team in Doro with us in 2010.  Ginny grew up in Kenya; they now live in Albuquerque (that was hard to spell!) but were passing through Nairobi en route from visiting a new niece in Tanzania - true globe trotters!
