May 2013 Spiritual Life Conference (SLC)

This year's SLC was postponed by a month in order to avoid the potential trouble-spot of the Kenyan elections.  Thankfully all was peaceful.  So from the end of April our logistics team worked very hard in order to fly our whole team out of South Sudan and accommodate them in Nairobi.

Our 5 day SLC was held again in the beautiful surroundings of Brackenhurst conference centre in the hills of Limuru just outside Nairobi.

Christiane was chair of the committee planning SLC (which Deb was also a part of) and she got to do the least relaxing all week.  Happily others are going to take a turn to organise next year.

Our conference speaker, VJ Samkutty (affectionately known as Sam) from All Nations in the UK, and worship leader Joal, from Tennessee.  Both were used so much by God to bless our team.

Old friends and new, enjoying hanging out together.

A very moving moment as Getachew and Tibarek share their testimony.  Tibarek's first husband, Jacob, died from cerebral malaria in South Sudan in 2010.  She shared the verse from Ps 126, "those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy."

Great to see Rose and her sister Providence feeding up on all the good food!

Chris (Director about to leave for home assignment), George (incoming Acting Director) and Sam in deep discussion!

Claire bidding a very fond farewell to Gail and Mike Koski.  The Koskis are in their 40th year in missions and don't think they are finished yet.  They don't plan to return to our South Sudan team but we're hoping they won't be far away.

Deborah praying for others leaving or going off on home assignment.  Our team is always in flux!

I think a plan is being made!

A joy-full performance of 'the goldfish song' - you'll have to ask...  We were blessed by having a wonderful team from Tennessee come to give our kids their own time of teaching and fun.  Marilyn (far L) has come back for I think 4 years now.  Gold medal!

Rangteigong and Hiakie (Secondary School Director) with Sam.  Later in the week Hiakie suffered a heart attack and we are so thankful to God that he was in Nairobi and not Doro.  He's made an amazing recovery and is now back in Doro.

The Nairobi team

The Doro team (9 nationalities there!)

I'll try and get one of our whole team together up too - Melut and Malakal teams are missing here.
