Week 6 (Aug) - up the Great North Road to Scotland

Bethanie and Caleb have their first Little Chef breakfast

We have a quick explore of the beautiful city of Lincoln and resolve to come back for more

It even welcomes us visitors from Kenya in the cathedral - 'Karibu'!

Look at these beautiful old streets

This one is called 'Steep Street' - only Caleb went down and back up again!

We stopped for lunch in Richmond - apparently 'the most romantic place in the whole of the North East' - well we liked it!

And before the day had ended we'd reached our final destination - Aunty Jean & Uncle Peter's.  A home that always has a warm welcome (despite Scottish temps), extra folks dropping in and most excitingly - eggs to collect!

Nathan and Gillian (+1) are enjoying a bed for the night before heading off camping

We visit the Melrose Roman museum that is small but very friendly, with plenty of hands-on exhibits

And of course we had to see the Melrose Rugby Club - the home of Rugby Sevens

 Uncle Bill and Aunty Caroline

 Melrose Abbey
And a stop on the way home for the engineer in our family - an exciting-looking viaduct

Granny Elizabeth helps Justin with research for his next book by getting out her wartime memorabilia

Such poignant memories

 And he's found one!

Granny Elizabeth, Bethanie Elizabeth and Caleb John

Aunty Jean, Uncle Peter and their Bethany (who lived with us for 3 months in Nairobi, so we feel she's 'our Bethany' now too!).  Rueven somehow escaped the camera.
